Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Utilities and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 1.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 4.87% or 2.820 points to trade at 60.690 at the close. UCB (BR:UCB) added 2.44% or 1.61 points to end at 67.56 and ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) was up 1.72% or 0.195 points to 11.525 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BR:ABI), which lost 0.66% or 0.78 points to trade at 115.78 in late trade. bpost NV (BR:BPOST) added 0.21% or 0.05 points to end at 24.20 and Telenet Group (BR:TNET) gained 0.48% or 0.23 points to 47.15.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 105 to 48 and 15 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.66% or 8.25 to $1264.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.24% or 0.12 to hit $50.06 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.08% or 0.04 to trade at $51.48 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.05% to 1.0993, while EUR/GBP fell 0.92% to 0.8942.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 97.78.
