Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Banking, Oil & Gas and Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 declined 0.79%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB), which rose 4.39% or 0.050 points to trade at 1.190 at the close. Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) added 2.85% or 0.18 points to end at 6.50 and Nig Brew (LAGOS:NB) was up 0.82% or 1.22 points to 149.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT), which lost 4.75% or 1.14 points to trade at 23.32 in late trade. Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN) declined 4.62% or 0.030 points to end at 0.620 and Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC) shed 3.51% or 0.60 points to 17.01.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 27 to 11 and 46 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.22% or 0.11 to $50.29 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.17% or 0.09 to hit $51.90 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.37% or 4.65 to trade at $1258.45 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 1.14% to 342.830, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 305.000.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.42% at 97.58.
