Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Industrials and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Umicore NV (BR:UMI), which rose 2.23% or 0.98 points to trade at 45.01 at the close. Delhaize Group (BR:DELB) added 2.14% or 1.95 points to end at 93.26 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) was up 2.03% or 0.29 points to 14.59 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ING Groep NV (AS:ING), which lost 2.83% or 0.320 points to trade at 11.000 in late trade. Proximus NV (BR:PROX) declined 2.23% or 0.67 points to end at 29.43 and Ageas (BR:AGES) shed 0.95% or 0.330 points to 34.300.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 91 to 55 and 8 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.60% or 7.45 to $1250.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.75% or 0.33 to hit $44.37 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.92% or 0.42 to trade at $46.00 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.19% to 1.1319, while EUR/GBP rose 0.40% to 0.7780.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.05% at 94.40.
