Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Financials and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 gained 0.55%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Banco BPI (LS:BBPI), which rose 3.25% or 0.0380 points to trade at 1.2080 at the close. Sonae (LS:YSO) added 2.33% or 0.0220 points to end at 0.9660 and EDP (LS:EDP) was up 1.77% or 0.0490 points to 2.8230 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Impresa SGPS (LS:IMPA), which lost 7.93% or 0.0310 points to trade at 0.3600 in late trade. Teixeira Duarte (LS:TDSA) declined 2.83% or 0.0080 points to end at 0.2750 and Mota Engil (LS:MOTA) shed 1.76% or 0.0300 points to 1.6740.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 30 to 13 and 8 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for May delivery was up 3.10% or 1.23 to $40.88 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 3.92% or 1.43 to hit $37.93 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 0.47% or 5.90 to trade at $1257.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.16% to 1.1028, while EUR/GBP rose 0.09% to 0.7753.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.19% at 96.98.
