Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Building & Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 0.95%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which rose 3.52% or 0.173 points to trade at 5.084 at the close. Distribuidora Intl de Aliment (MC:DIDA) added 3.31% or 0.176 points to end at 5.485 and Gamesa (MC:GAM) was up 2.18% or 0.455 points to 21.350 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco Popular (MC:POP), which lost 2.32% or 0.026 points to trade at 1.094 in late trade. Caixabank SA (MC:CABK) declined 1.79% or 0.044 points to end at 2.417 and Bankia (MC:BKIA) shed 1.10% or 0.008 points to 0.718.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 142 to 54 and 24 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.55% or 7.15 to $1317.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.26% or 0.55 to hit $44.17 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.27% or 0.58 to trade at $46.35 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.17% to 1.1174, while EUR/GBP fell 0.01% to 0.8569.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.32% at 95.75.
