Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Oil & Gas and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 gained 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO), which rose 4.67% or 2.43 points to trade at 54.45 at the close. Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE) added 2.04% or 0.89 points to end at 44.50 and Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) was up 1.92% or 0.010 points to 0.530 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG), which lost 3.30% or 0.46 points to trade at 13.51 in late trade. Fbn Holdings (LAGOS:FBNH) declined 2.77% or 0.160 points to end at 5.610 and Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT) shed 2.21% or 0.030 points to 1.330.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 35 to 33 and 20 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.95% or 0.48 to $49.94 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.59% or 0.33 to hit $55.67 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.18% or 2.29 to trade at $1275.61 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.15% to 420.940, while USD/NGN fell 0.14% to 360.000.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 93.34.
