Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Banking, Retail and Basic Resources sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite rose 1.62% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr), which rose 17.24% or 0.005 points to trade at 0.034 at the close. Meanwhile, Bank Of Piraeus (AT:BOPr) added 9.78% or 0.009 points to end at 0.101 and Lykos Inform. (AT:LYKr) was up 9.54% or 0.05 points to 0.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Creta Plastics (AT:PLAKR), which fell 6.18% or 0.37 points to trade at 5.62 at the close. Iktinos Hellas (AT:IKTr) declined 5.00% or 0.06 points to end at 1.14 and Frigoglass (AT:FRIr) was down 2.89% or 0.07 points to 2.35.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 64 to 39 and 6 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.09% or 1.00 to $1168.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.82% or 0.37 to hit $45.57 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.89% or 0.42 to trade at $48.27 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.57% to 1.1162, while EUR/GBP fell 1.50% to 0.7242.
The US Dollar Index was up 1.07% at 96.10.
