Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financials, Consumer Services and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 added 1.29% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP), which rose 3.98% or 0.0060 points to trade at 0.1567 at the close. Altri SGPS (LS:ALSS) added 3.30% or 0.1420 points to end at 4.4460 and Sonae (LS:YSO) was up 2.65% or 0.0220 points to 0.8510 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Montepio (LS:MPIO), which lost 9.38% or 0.044 points to trade at 0.425 in late trade. Semapa (LS:SEM) declined 0.83% or 0.1150 points to end at 13.7350 and EDP (LS:EDP) shed 0.38% or 0.0110 points to 2.9080.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 25 to 11 and 7 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for May delivery was down 0.27% or 0.15 to $56.36 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.35% or 0.19 to hit $53.82 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.57% or 7.15 to trade at $1246.75 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.12% to 1.0564, while EUR/GBP rose 0.49% to 0.8584.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.30% at 101.63.
