Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Telecoms and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 0.77% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were MVideo (MCX:MVID), which rose 3.60% or 12.00 points to trade at 345.00 at the close. Lukoil (MCX:LKOH) added 3.05% or 85.0 points to end at 2870.0 and Moskovskaya Birzha OAO (MCX:MOEX) was up 2.95% or 3.52 points to 123.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI), which lost 2.13% or 0.0197 points to trade at 0.9063 in late trade. MMC Norilsk Nickel (MCX:GMKN) declined 1.29% or 129.0 points to end at 9860.0 and Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF) shed 0.69% or 5.50 points to 788.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 121 to 108 and 20 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.26% to 28.140.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.22% or 2.95 to $1347.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.28% or 0.99 to hit $44.48 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.89% or 0.87 to trade at $46.91 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.91% to 64.9013, while EUR/RUB rose 1.25% to 72.496.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.28% at 95.63.
