Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Consumer Goods, Technology and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 1.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which rose 8.88% or 2.59 points to trade at 31.75 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 1.79% or 0.875 points to end at 49.890 and Umicore NV (BR:UMI) was up 0.69% or 0.34 points to 50.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BR:ABI), which lost 2.52% or 2.85 points to trade at 110.25 in late trade. Ageas (BR:AGES) declined 2.22% or 0.680 points to end at 29.970 and ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) shed 1.70% or 0.169 points to 9.780.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 70 to 68 and 14 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.48% or 6.45 to $1340.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.65% or 0.69 to hit $41.23 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.32% or 0.58 to trade at $43.33 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.24% to 1.1087, while EUR/GBP rose 0.91% to 0.8439.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.18% at 96.58.
