Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Consumer Services and Telecoms & IT sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 lost 0.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Mapfre (MC:MAP), which rose 2.03% or 0.045 points to trade at 2.260 at the close. Inditex (MC:ITX) added 1.62% or 0.455 points to end at 28.490 and Merlin Properties SA (MC:MRL) was up 1.58% or 0.16 points to 10.31 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco Popular (MC:POP), which lost 3.79% or 0.090 points to trade at 2.285 in late trade. Sacyr (MC:SCYR) declined 1.99% or 0.037 points to end at 1.822 and Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS) shed 1.70% or 0.084 points to 4.863.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 111 to 92 and 17 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.24% or 3.05 to $1293.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 2.57% or 1.18 to hit $44.74 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 3.00% or 1.42 to trade at $45.95 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.51% to 1.1512, while EUR/GBP rose 0.13% to 0.7853.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.35% at 92.69.
