Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Power & Energy, Plantations and Construction & Engineering sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share declined 0.50%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Huejay International Investments PLC (CM:HUEJ), which rose 17.80% or 6.80 points to trade at 45.00 at the close. Bimputh Finance PLC (CM:BIMP) added 17.65% or 9.00 points to end at 60.00 and Standard Capital PLC (CM:SING) was up 16.67% or 15.00 points to 105.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ceylon Beverage Holdings PLC (CM:BREW), which lost 16.38% or 95.00 points to trade at 485.00 in late trade. Chilaw Finance PLC (CM:CHIL) declined 15.58% or 3.10 points to end at 16.80 and Bogawantalawa Tea Estates PLC (CM:BOPL) shed 9.35% or 1.00 points to 9.70.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 104 to 66 and 48 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was up 0.43% or 0.17 to $39.63 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.07% or 0.03 to hit $41.06 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.42% or 5.10 to trade at $1218.40 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.12% to 207.630, while USD/LKR rose 0.02% to 146.885.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.12% at 96.29.
