Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Chemicals, Construction and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 2.31%, while the MDAX index declined 1.64%, and the TecDAX index declined 2.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Adidas AG NA O.N. (DE:ADSGN), which rose 1.29% or 1.240 points to trade at 97.570 at the close. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) added 0.40% or 0.045 points to end at 11.320 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn) was down 0.42% or 0.065 points to 15.295 in late trade.
Biggest losers included K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn), which lost 10.42% or 2.300 points to trade at 19.775 in late trade. Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) declined 5.23% or 10.200 points to end at 184.850 and Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) shed 4.17% or 2.720 points to 62.560.
The top performers on the MDAX were DMG Mori Seiki AG (DE:GILG) which rose 4.07% to 38.355, LEG Immobilien AG (DE:LEGn) which was up 1.85% to settle at 75.260 and Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which gained 1.25% to close at 52.520.
The worst performers were Hochtief AG (DE:HOTG) which was down 7.57% to 93.170 in late trade, Osram Licht AG (F:OSRn) which lost 4.48% to settle at 42.229 and Leoni AG NA O.N. (DE:LEOGn) which was down 4.09% to 27.640 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were LPKF Laser & Electronics (DE:LPKG) which rose 3.29% to 7.689, Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which was up 1.59% to settle at 31.240 and Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which gained 1.28% to close at 3.237.
The worst performers were Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which was down 8.09% to 32.000 in late trade, Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which lost 2.96% to settle at 27.170 and Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 2.93% to 25.640 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 604 to 243 and 32 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 24.50.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 0.95% or 11.90 to $1269.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 1.83% or 0.70 to hit $37.59 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 2.53% or 1.04 to trade at $40.03 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.57% to 1.1173, while EUR/GBP rose 0.74% to 0.7809.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.02% at 96.20.
