Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Mining, Oil & Gas and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 2.87%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were Yandex NV (MCX:YNDX), which rose 11.78% or 107.50 points to trade at 1020.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Gruppa Cherkizovo ao (MCX:GCHE) added 6.39% or 62.0 points to end at 1032.0 and Akron (MCX:AKRN) was up 6.37% or 237.0 points to 3960.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT), which fell 1.94% or 1.01 points to trade at 50.99 at the close. MVideo (MCX:MVID) declined 1.61% or 4.10 points to end at 250.70 and PIK (MCX:PIKK) was down 1.13% or 2.40 points to 210.10.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 155 to 75 and 8 ended unchanged.
Shares in Akron (MCX:AKRN) rose to all time highs; up 6.37% or 237.0 to 3960.0.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.10% to 49.420.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.97% or 10.70 to $1095.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 5.43% or 1.54 to hit $29.89 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 5.76% or 1.60 to trade at $29.48 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 1.37% to 82.945, while EUR/RUB rose 0.16% to 89.353.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.25% at 99.41.
