Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Construction, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Retail sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 1.67% to hit a new 3-months low, while the MDAX index fell 1.49%, and the TecDAX index lost 2.72%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn), which rose 3.00% or 0.620 points to trade at 21.295 at the close. Meanwhile, Siemens AG NA (DE:SIEGn) added 0.18% or 0.150 points to end at 83.280 and Lanxess AG (DE:LXSG) was up 0.07% or 0.025 points to 38.185 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which fell 4.26% or 0.890 points to trade at 20.005 at the close. Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) declined 3.73% or 4.500 points to end at 116.000 and Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) was down 3.56% or 2.430 points to 65.810.
The top performers on the MDAX were Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which rose 3.27% to 41.320, Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which was up 2.21% to settle at 45.130 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which gained 2.04% to close at 70.910.
The worst performers were Tui AG NA (DE:TUIGn) which was down 5.19% to 15.810 in late trade, Rheinmetall AG (DE:RHMG) which lost 4.97% to settle at 56.580 and Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which was down 4.12% to 74.310 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which rose 1.87% to 3.429, Kontron AG O.N. (DE:KBCG) which was up 1.02% to settle at 2.876 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which gained 0.76% to close at 35.960.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 10.23% to 45.485 in late trade, BB Biotech AG (DE:BIONn) which lost 6.64% to settle at 225.100 and Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which was down 4.48% to 3.628 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 558 to 125 and 38 ended unchanged.
Shares in Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) fell to 5-year lows; losing 4.26% or 0.890 to 20.005.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 5.70% to 27.80.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.56% or 6.10 to $1081.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 2.20% or 0.67 to hit $31.15 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.14% or 0.34 to trade at $30.52 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.13% to 1.0862, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.7540.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.25% at 99.17.
