Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Banking and Insurance sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 declined 0.45%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN), which rose 6.85% or 0.10 points to trade at 1.56 at the close. Meanwhile, Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN) added 4.49% or 0.040 points to end at 0.930 and Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB) was up 2.53% or 0.35 points to 14.25 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE), which fell 4.95% or 2.25 points to trade at 43.25 at the close. Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ) declined 4.46% or 1.20 points to end at 25.70 and Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO) was down 4.44% or 4.30 points to 92.26.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lagos Stock Exchange by 29 to 24 and 35 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for February delivery was up 2.81% or 1.03 to $37.84 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 3.30% or 1.21 to hit $37.83 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.01% or 0.10 to trade at $1068.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.24% to 218.140, while USD/NGN fell 0.01% to 198.975.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.19% at 98.18.
