Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Public Utilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.62%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Oi SA (SA:OIBR4), which rose 16.11% or 0.29 points to trade at 2.09 at the close. Meanwhile, Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) added 3.29% or 0.05 points to end at 1.57 and Vale SA (SA:VALE5) was up 3.18% or 0.31 points to 10.05 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA (SA:GOLL4), which fell 11.07% or 0.31 points to trade at 2.49 at the close. Cia Hering (SA:HGTX3) declined 4.31% or 0.69 points to end at 15.31 and Lojas Renner SA (SA:LREN3) was down 2.60% or 0.45 points to 16.85.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 178 to 146 and 7 ended unchanged.
Shares in Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA (SA:GOLL4) fell to all time lows; down 11.07% or 0.31 to 2.49.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 8.24% to 45.24.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.75% or 8.10 to $1072.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.02% or 0.36 to hit $36.17 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 1.41% or 1.65 to trade at $119.08 .
USD/BRL was down 0.58% to 3.9896, while EUR/BRL fell 0.22% to 4.3703.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.20% at 98.24.
