Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Consumer Goods and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.26%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.23%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Technip (PA:TECF), which rose 2.04% or 1.02 points to trade at 51.00 at the close. Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) added 2.02% or 2.60 points to end at 131.05 and Renault SA (PA:RENA) was up 1.80% or 1.56 points to 88.03 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Schneider Electric SE (PA:SCHN), which lost 0.90% or 0.51 points to trade at 55.87 in late trade. Sodexo (PA:EXHO) declined 0.85% or 0.79 points to end at 92.51 and Total SA (PA:TOTF) shed 0.71% or 0.30 points to 42.24.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Innate Pharma (PA:IPH) which rose 5.08% to 13.660, Maurel Et Prom (PA:MAUP) which was up 2.86% to settle at 3.24 and Europcar Groupe SA (PA:EUCAR) which gained 2.46% to close at 9.84.
The worst performers were Mercialys (PA:MERY) which was down 2.07% to 19.86 in late trade, Saft (PA:S1A) which lost 1.81% to settle at 26.51 and Electricite de France SA (PA:EDF) which was down 1.78% to 11.30 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 352 to 318 and 101 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 2.30% to 20.48.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.11% or 1.40 to $1233.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.70% or 0.29 to hit $41.42 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.23% or 0.10 to trade at $43.20 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.27% to 1.1314, while EUR/GBP fell 0.23% to 0.7926.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.22% at 94.47.
