Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Investment Trust, Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals and Footwear & Textile sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share declined 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Kelani Valley Plantations PLC (CM:KVAL), which rose 21.77% or 10.60 points to trade at 59.30 at the close. Tangerine Beach Hotels PLC (CM:TANG) added 16.09% or 8.30 points to end at 59.90 and Royal Palms Beach Hotels PLC (CM:RPBH) was up 14.47% or 3.40 points to 26.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ceylon Leather Products PLC (CM:CLPL), which lost 13.57% or 9.50 points to trade at 60.50 in late trade. Lanka Ashok Leyland PLC (CM:ASHO) declined 12.33% or 148.00 points to end at 1052.00 and Amana Takaful PLC (CM:ATL) shed 11.11% or 0.100 points to 0.800.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 99 to 66 and 43 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.19% or 0.10 to $53.16 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.51% or 0.28 to hit $55.20 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.67% or 7.65 to trade at $1135.05 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.01% to 185.115, while USD/LKR rose 0.30% to 149.510.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.26% at 103.34.
