Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Information Technology, Construction & Engineering and Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share added 0.52%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Ceylon Printers PLC (CM:CPRT), which rose 16.73% or 9.20 points to trade at 64.20 at the close. SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB) added 16.67% or 0.1000 points to end at 0.7000 and Royal Palms Beach Hotels PLC (CM:RPBH) was up 15.22% or 3.50 points to 26.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Serendib Land PLC (CM:SLND), which lost 24.99% or 415.20 points to trade at 1246.00 in late trade. Shalimar Estates (CM:SHAL) declined 24.59% or 565.10 points to end at 1733.10 and Lanka Ceramic PLC (CM:CERA) shed 11.82% or 14.60 points to 108.90.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 115 to 58 and 52 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.75% or 0.38 to $51.20 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.78% or 0.42 to hit $54.06 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.15% or 1.75 to trade at $1187.25 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.05% to 182.075, while USD/LKR rose 0.18% to 149.870.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.36% at 102.38.
