Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Industrial Engineering, Media and Food Producers sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.54%, while the SBF 120 index added 0.54%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Alstom SA (PA:ALSO), which rose 3.42% or 0.81 points to trade at 24.66 at the close. Meanwhile, Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) added 3.18% or 1.66 points to end at 53.88 and Orange SA (PA:ORAN) was up 2.77% or 0.44 points to 16.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Airbus Group (PA:AIR), which fell 3.41% or 1.96 points to trade at 55.46 at the close. Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) declined 2.30% or 1.79 points to end at 76.07 and Klepierre (PA:LOIM) was down 1.72% or 0.68 points to 38.55.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were STMicroelectronics (PA:STM) which rose 4.34% to 6.276, Alstom SA (PA:ALSO) which was up 3.42% to settle at 24.66 and Ipsos (PA:ISOS) which gained 3.26% to close at 18.69.
The worst performers were CGG (PA:GEPH) which was down 3.85% to 0.75 in late trade, Airbus Group (PA:AIR) which lost 3.41% to settle at 55.46 and ICADE (PA:ICAD) which was down 3.32% to 62.35 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 400 to 243 and 103 ended unchanged.
Shares in CGG (PA:GEPH) fell to all time lows; down 3.85% or 0.03 to 0.75.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 1.38% to 26.98.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.29% or 3.20 to $1117.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 3.08% or 0.97 to hit $32.42 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 4.30% or 1.40 to trade at $33.97 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.06% to 1.0865, while EUR/GBP rose 0.64% to 0.7622.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 99.18.
