Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Manufacturing, Oil & Gas and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 1.32% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Yandex NV (MCX:YNDX), which rose 4.69% or 66.00 points to trade at 1473.00 at the close. MVideo (MCX:MVID) added 3.83% or 11.10 points to end at 301.00 and Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF) was up 3.69% or 24.70 points to 693.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included FSK EES (MCX:FEES), which lost 4.62% or 0.0069 points to trade at 0.1431 in late trade. Akron (MCX:AKRN) declined 2.19% or 75.0 points to end at 3350.0 and Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI) shed 1.74% or 0.0124 points to 0.7016.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 114 to 99 and 22 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 1.63% to 33.590.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 1.87% or 25.35 to $1331.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 4.40% or 1.97 to hit $46.73 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 4.61% or 2.13 to trade at $48.38 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.64% to 63.7860, while EUR/RUB fell 0.38% to 70.728.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.25% at 96.34.
