Investing.com – Turkey stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Sports, Information Technology and Textile & Leather sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 fell 3.55% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the BIST 100 were AK Enerji (IS:AKENR), which rose 0.99% or 0.010 points to trade at 1.020 at the close. Meanwhile, AvivaSA Emeklilik ve Hayat AS (IS:AVISA) fell 0.21% or 0.10 points to end at 46.70 and Anadolu Isuzu (IS:ASUZU) was down 0.25% or 0.05 points to 20.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Galatasaray Sportif (IS:GSRAY), which fell 10.02% or 2.85 points to trade at 25.60 at the close. Alkim Kimya (IS:ALKIM) declined 9.40% or 1.25 points to end at 12.05 and Ipek Dogal Enerji (IS:IPEKE) was down 8.99% or 0.250 points to 2.530.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Istanbul Stock Exchange by 381 to 28 and 4 ended unchanged.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.06% or 0.70 to $1092.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.63% or 0.31 to hit $48.88 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.26% or 0.14 to trade at $55.98 a barrel.
USD/TRY was up 0.97% to 2.7330, while EUR/TRY rose 1.44% to 3.0016.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.26% at 97.37.
