China stocks lower at close of trade; Shanghai Composite down 0.78%

Investing.com – China stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Software & Computer Services, Retailers and Technology sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Shanghai, the Shanghai Composite fell 0.78%, while the SZSE Component index declined 2.32%.

The best performers of the session on the Shanghai Composite were Yingkou Port (SS:600317), which rose 10.10% or 0.490 points to trade at 5.340 at the close. Meanwhile, Shenma Indu (SS:600810) added 10.06% or 0.810 points to end at 8.860 and Eastlake Tech (SS:600133) was up 10.03% or 1.010 points to 11.080 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Ancai Hi-Tech (SS:600207), which fell 10.06% or 0.660 points to trade at 5.900 at the close. Ningbo Fuda (SS:600724) declined 10.05% or 0.840 points to end at 7.520 and Huayi Elec (SS:600290) was down 10.04% or 1.130 points to 10.130.

The top performers on the SZSE Component were Guangdong Electric Power Development Co Ltd (SZ:000539) which rose 10.03% to 7.35, Sinopec Shandong Taishan Petroleum Co Ltd (SZ:000554) which was up 10.02% to settle at 10.32 and Great Wall Movie TV Ltd (SZ:002071) which gained 10.00% to close at 14.630.

The worst performers were Chengdu Huasun Group Inc Ltd (SZ:000790) which was down 10.03% to 12.56 in late trade, Ourpalm (SZ:300315) which lost 10.02% to settle at 11.22 and EVE Energy (SZ:300014) which was down 10.02% to 19.40 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Shanghai Stock Exchange by 772 to 170.

The CBOE China Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Shanghai Composite options, was up 9.69% to 45.85.

Gold for December delivery was down 0.09% or 1.00 to $1133.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.35% or 0.61 to hit $44.61 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 99.02% or 49.56 to trade at $0.49 a barrel.

USD/CNY was down 0.14% to 6.3796, while EUR/CNY rose 0.06% to 7.1529.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.18% at 95.97.
