Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Electricity and Trading & Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.61%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Sumagh High Tech Corp (TW:1475), which rose 10.00% or 1.40 points to trade at 15.40 at the close. JSL Construction & Development Co Ltd (TW:2540) added 9.96% or 2.30 points to end at 25.40 and Thunder Tiger Corp (TW:8033) was up 9.92% or 0.84 points to 9.31 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cheer Time Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:3229), which lost 9.86% or 2.10 points to trade at 19.20 in late trade. Delpha Construction Co Ltd (TW:2530) declined 8.36% or 1.35 points to end at 14.80 and Genesis Photonics Inc (TW:3383) shed 7.38% or 0.24 points to 3.01.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 488 to 299 and 89 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.89% or 0.44 to $49.22 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.84% or 0.44 to hit $51.80 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.02% or 0.24 to trade at $1261.86 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.11% to 30.071, while TWD/CNY fell 0.61% to 0.2266.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 97.33.
