Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Other Electronic, Machinery and Hotels sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.30%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Chiu Ting Mach (TW:1539), which rose 9.98% or 2.65 points to trade at 29.20 at the close. Crowell (TW:2528) added 9.92% or 0.66 points to end at 7.31 and Chang Type (TW:1541) was up 9.88% or 4.90 points to 54.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Li Cheng (TW:4426), which lost 10.00% or 14.00 points to trade at 126.00 in late trade. Y.C.C. (TW:1339) declined 9.98% or 5.40 points to end at 48.70 and L&K Eng (TW:6139) shed 9.97% or 3.10 points to 28.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 478 to 289 and 84 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.09% or 0.04 to $43.48 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.62% or 0.27 to hit $43.90 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.07% or 0.85 to trade at $1267.45 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.28% to 32.504, while TWD/CNY rose 0.10% to 0.2009.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.02% at 94.12.
