Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Finance & Investment, Real Estate & Construction and Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General fell 1.61%, while the ADX General index fell 1.31%.
The best performers of the session on the DFM General were Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN), which rose 5.98% or 0.031 points to trade at 0.549 at the close. Meanwhile, Dubai Parks and Resorts PJSC (DU:DUBA) added 0.89% or 0.010 points to end at 1.130 and National Cement Company P.S.C. (DU:NCC) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.000 points to 3.470 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE), which fell 6.67% or 0.110 points to trade at 1.540 at the close. Dubai Financial Market PJSC (DU:DFM) declined 4.13% or 0.050 points to end at 1.160 and Takaful House (DU:DTKF) was down 3.96% or 0.017 points to 0.412.
The top performers on the ADX General were Rak Properties (AD:RPRO) which rose 1.82% to 0.550, Gulf Pharm Ind (AD:GPHI) which was up 0.80% to settle at 2.52 and Emirates Ins C (AD:EIC) which unchanged 0.00% to close at 6.72.
The worst performers were Invest Bank AD (AD:INVB) which was down 10.00% to 1.80 in late trade, Natl Co Bldg M (AD:BILD) which lost 8.51% to settle at 0.430 and Dana Gas (AD:DANA) which was down 5.77% to 0.490 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 24 to 2; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 20 fell and 5 advanced, while 2 ended unchanged.
Shares in Invest Bank AD (AD:INVB) fell to 52-week lows; down 10.00% or 0.20 to 1.80. Shares in Emirates Ins C (AD:EIC) unchanged to 52-week lows; unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to 6.72.
Crude oil for February delivery was up 1.36% or 0.51 to $37.55 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 2.12% or 0.79 to hit $38.07 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 1.21% or 12.80 to trade at $1073.00 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED rose 0.09% to 4.0037.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.44% at 98.34.
