Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Glass, Paper & Pulp and Information Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.72% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Chipmos (TW:8150), which rose 9.96% or 2.45 points to trade at 27.05 at the close. Bright Led (TW:3031) added 9.93% or 1.50 points to end at 16.60 and Inventec Besta (TW:8201) was up 9.83% or 1.15 points to 12.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Formosa Hotel (TW:2707), which lost 6.10% or 10.00 points to trade at 154.00 in late trade. Infodisc Tech (TW:2491) declined 4.99% or 0.38 points to end at 7.23 and Billion (TW:3027) shed 4.44% or 0.65 points to 14.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 576 to 210 and 95 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 0.23% or 0.11 to $48.86 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 0.08% or 0.04 to hit $51.78 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.02% or 0.25 to trade at $1227.35 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.29% to 30.603, while TWD/CNY rose 0.22% to 0.2269.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 100.01.
