Investing.com – Turkey stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Basic Metals, Tourism and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 lost 1.38% to hit a new 52-week low.
The best performers of the session on the BIST 100 were Vestel (IS:VESTL), which rose 9.02% or 0.440 points to trade at 5.320 at the close. Meanwhile, Ihlas Holding (IS:IHLAS) added 4.55% or 0.010 points to end at 0.230 and Vestel Beyaz Esya (IS:VESBE) was up 4.24% or 0.480 points to 11.790 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Alcatel Lucent Teletas (IS:ALCTL), which fell 5.80% or 0.360 points to trade at 5.850 at the close. Koza Madencilik (IS:KOZAA) declined 5.32% or 0.050 points to end at 0.890 and Eregli Demir Celik (IS:EREGL) was down 5.14% or 0.170 points to 3.140.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Istanbul Stock Exchange by 302 to 108 and 1 ended unchanged.
Shares in Koza Madencilik (IS:KOZAA) fell to 5-year lows; down 5.32% or 0.050 to 0.890. Shares in Eregli Demir Celik (IS:EREGL) fell to 52-week lows; losing 5.14% or 0.170 to 3.140.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.78% or 8.40 to $1067.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.71% or 0.61 to hit $36.23 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.26% or 0.10 to trade at $38.42 a barrel.
USD/TRY was up 0.15% to 2.9858, while EUR/TRY rose 0.41% to 3.2947.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.18% at 97.43.
