Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Healthcare, Basic Materials and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.23%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 1.41% or 0.770 points to trade at 55.430 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) added 1.41% or 0.100 points to end at 7.175 and Vopak (AS:VOPA) was up 1.28% or 0.56 points to 44.22 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Philips Kon (AS:PHG), which lost 0.97% or 0.27 points to trade at 27.63 in late trade. ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd) declined 0.29% or 0.06 points to end at 20.28 and ASML Holding (AS:ASML) shed 0.13% or 0.13 points to 99.37.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 96 to 73 and 14 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 0.07% to 18.07.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.02% or 0.01 to $47.95 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $48.95 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.38% or 4.50 to trade at $1183.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.03% to 1.0556, while EUR/GBP fell 0.15% to 0.8476.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.03% at 101.76.
