Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Oil & Gas and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 0.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which rose 3.69% or 0.56 points to trade at 15.89 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 2.73% or 1.600 points to end at 60.220 and KPN Kon (AS:KPN) was up 1.35% or 0.038 points to 2.861 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which lost 2.85% or 0.145 points to trade at 4.945 in late trade. SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO) declined 2.06% or 0.25 points to end at 11.89 and Royal Dutch Shell A (AS:RDSa) shed 0.84% or 0.18 points to 21.25.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 90 to 73 and 13 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 1.15% to 17.55.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.11% or 0.05 to $43.91 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 0.39% or 0.18 to hit $45.77 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.04% or 0.55 to trade at $1318.35 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.06% to 1.1168, while EUR/GBP rose 0.27% to 0.8601.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 95.90.
