The Powder Business segment manufactures and sells metal powder and powder metallurgy products. The Shape Material Business manufactures and sells formed and fabricated materials made from special steel bars and tubes. The Others segment provides information processing services. The company’s steel products are used in a range of automobiles, wind power generation, power transmission lines, robots, construction machineries, railroads, aerospace, buildings, PCs, mobile phones/smartphones, ship, factories, plants, power stations, and medical fields. The company was formerly known as Sanyo Steel Works and changed its name to Sanyo Special Steel Co., Ltd. in 1959. The company was founded in 1933 and is headquartered in Himeji, Japan. Sanyo Special Steel Co., Ltd. operates as a subsidiary of Nippon Steel Corporation.
