MELBOURNE, Feb 14 (Reuters) - Woodside Petroleum WPL.AX plans to offer its Pluto LNG partners Tokyo Gas Co Ltd 9531.T and Kansai Electric Power Co stakes in the Scarborough gas field, Chief Executive Peter Coleman said on Wednesday.
He made the comments after Woodside announced it had agreed to buy ExxonMobil Corp's XOM.N 50 percent stake in the Scarborough field, which will be used to feed an expansion of the Pluto LNG plant.
Tokyo Gas and Kansai Electric each own 5 percent stakes in Pluto LNG and Coleman said he would like them to take similar stakes in Scarborough.
"We would like their participation, we would like their alignment through the plant, but it's not necessary to move forward," Coleman told analysts on a conference call.
