Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Telecoms and Transport sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Insurance, Services and Finance & Investment sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General gained 0.15%, while the ADX General index lost 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Drake & Scull International PJSC (DU:DSI), which rose 1.97% or 0.009 points to trade at 0.465 at the close. Dubai Islamic Bank (DU:DISB) added 1.72% or 0.100 points to end at 5.900 and AJMAN BANK PJSC (DU:AJBNK) was up 1.56% or 0.020 points to 1.300 in late trade.
Biggest losers included National Cement Company P.S.C. (DU:NCC), which lost 8.60% or 0.300 points to trade at 3.190 in late trade. Takaful House (DU:DTKF) declined 3.95% or 0.060 points to end at 1.460 and Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN) shed 2.51% or 0.022 points to 0.856.
The top performers on the ADX General were Union Natl Bk (AD:UNB) which rose 6.36% to 4.850, Al Khazna Ins (AD:AKIC) which was up 5.00% to settle at 0.420 and Rak Ceramics (AD:RKCE) which gained 4.67% to close at 2.240.
The worst performers were Ad Natl Energy (AD:TAQA) which was down 5.17% to 0.550 in late trade, Eshraq Properties Co PJSC (AD:ESHR) which lost 3.31% to settle at 1.1700 and Int Fish Farmi (AD:ASMK) which was down 3.26% to 1.78 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 17 to 16 and 4 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 11 fell and 6 advanced, while 11 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was up 0.45% or 0.24 to $53.64 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.53% or 0.30 to hit $56.53 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.07% or 0.95 to trade at $1275.15 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was up 0.01% to 3.6732, while EUR/AED fell 0.04% to 3.8942.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 100.65.
