Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Transport, Consumer Staples and Services sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Banking, Finance & Investment and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General fell 1.58%, while the ADX General index added 0.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE), which rose 5.56% or 0.100 points to trade at 1.900 at the close. Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC (DU:GNAV) added 1.92% or 0.020 points to end at 1.060 and SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA) was up 1.48% or 0.010 points to 0.686 in late trade.
Biggest losers included National General Insurance Co PSC (DU:NGIN), which lost 9.09% or 0.27 points to trade at 2.70 in late trade. Dubai Islamic Bank (DU:DISB) declined 3.55% or 0.220 points to end at 5.980 and Emirates NBD PJSC (DU:ENBD) shed 2.50% or 0.210 points to 8.190.
The top performers on the ADX General were National Marine Dredging PSC (AD:NMDC) which rose 6.67% to 6.40, Agthia Group (AD:AGTH) which was up 2.10% to settle at 7.79 and Dana Gas (AD:DANA) which gained 1.79% to close at 0.570.
The worst performers were Al Khazna Ins (AD:AKIC) which was down 4.76% to 0.400 in late trade, Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which lost 2.88% to settle at 1.01 and Natl Bk Of Rak (AD:RAKB) which was down 2.75% to 5.30 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 20 to 9 and 5 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 8 fell and 8 advanced, while 9 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 1.98% or 0.87 to $44.91 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 2.11% or 0.96 to hit $46.54 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.37% or 4.55 to trade at $1247.95 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED rose 0.14% to 4.1547.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 94.35.
