Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Finance & Investment, Consumer Staples and Real Estate & Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General gained 0.47%, while the ADX General index added 0.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA), which rose 8.57% or 0.090 points to trade at 1.140 at the close. Emaar Properties PJSC (DU:EMAR) added 3.15% or 0.190 points to end at 6.220 and Takaful House (DU:DTKF) was up 2.44% or 0.017 points to 0.715 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Damac Properties Dubai Co PSC (DU:DAMAC), which lost 2.42% or 0.080 points to trade at 3.220 in late trade. Gulf General Investments Company (DU:GGIC) declined 1.67% or 0.006 points to end at 0.353 and Dubai Islamic Bank (DU:DISB) shed 0.97% or 0.060 points to 6.100.
The top performers on the ADX General were Ad Natl Energy (AD:TAQA) which rose 2.63% to 0.780, International Holding Company PJSC (AD:IHC) which was up 2.14% to settle at 1.43 and Waha Capital (AD:WAHA) which gained 1.43% to close at 2.130.
The worst performers were Union Natl Bk (AD:UNB) which was down 4.50% to 3.820 in late trade, Emirates Telec (AD:ETEL) which lost 0.58% to settle at 17.25 and Finance House (AD:FH) which was unchanged 0.00% to 1.720 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 19 to 13 and 7 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 11 rose and 2 declined, while 11 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 0.78% or 0.48 to $61.31 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 0.43% or 0.28 to hit $64.97 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.01% or 0.10 to trade at $1331.10 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was up 0.01% to 3.6732, while EUR/AED fell 0.07% to 4.5282.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 89.78.
