Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil & Gas Producers, Mobile Telecommunications and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 3.44%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RB), which rose 3.56% or 228.0 points to trade at 6630.0 at the close. Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) added 3.24% or 306.0 points to end at 9750.0 and Sage Group PLC (LON:SGE) was up 2.14% or 13.40 points to 640.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV), which lost 12.64% or 208.50 points to trade at 1440.50 in late trade. Royal Dutch Shell PLC B (LON:RDSb) declined 11.37% or 165.0 points to end at 1286.4 and Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (LON:RDSa) shed 11.00% or 163.75 points to 1325.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1382 to 811 and 177 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.95% or 16.30 to $1697.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 15.94% or 2.40 to hit $17.46 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 4.42% or 1.07 to trade at $25.30 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.96% to 1.2584, while EUR/GBP fell 0.30% to 0.8694.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.55% at 99.097.
