Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Software & Computer Services, Electronic & Electrical Equipment and Food Producers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 2.56%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Surgutneftegaz L (LON:SNGSyq), which rose 7.22% or 0.35 points to trade at 5.21 at the close. 3I Group PLC (LON:III) added 6.29% or 47.20 points to end at 797.00 and Informa PLC (LON:INF) was up 2.59% or 10.60 points to 420.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sage Group PLC (LON:SGE), which lost 7.23% or 48.20 points to trade at 618.40 in late trade. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) declined 6.86% or 144.00 points to end at 1956.00 and Spirax-Sarco Engineering PLC (LON:SPX) shed 6.66% or 630.0 points to 8836.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1791 to 408 and 110 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.39% or 23.80 to $1740.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 5.97% or 1.51 to hit $26.80 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 5.52% or 1.61 to trade at $30.80 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.26% to 1.2197, while EUR/GBP fell 0.01% to 0.8841.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 100.502.
