Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Mining, Industrial Metals & Mining and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 1.57%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:CCH), which rose 5.57% or 89.00 points to trade at 1,687.00 at the close. Next PLC (LON:NXT) added 3.44% or 214.00 points to end at 6,428.00 and Ferguson Plc (LON:FERG) was up 2.47% or 232.00 points to 9,634.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which lost 8.90% or 68.80 points to trade at 704.40 in late trade. Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) declined 4.84% or 52.00 points to end at 1,021.50 and BP PLC (LON:BP) shed 4.70% or 19.75 points to 400.15.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1441 to 557 and 351 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.55% or 28.80 to $1,824.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.25% or 0.26 to hit $105.97 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.08% or 0.09 to trade at $107.42 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.44% to 1.22, while EUR/GBP fell 0.86% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.93% at 104.84.
