Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Oil & Gas Producers and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 1.57%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which rose 5.95% or 131.40 points to trade at 2340.40 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 1.23% or 14.00 points to end at 1153.50 and Admiral Group PLC (LON:ADML) was up 1.16% or 34.0 points to 2977.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG), which lost 7.26% or 11.35 points to trade at 145.00 in late trade. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) declined 6.87% or 56.04 points to end at 759.96 and Rosneft (LON:ROSNq) shed 6.37% or 0.38 points to 5.62.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1786 to 544 and 57 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.35% or 6.55 to $1882.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 3.72% or 1.83 to hit $47.41 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 3.73% or 1.95 to trade at $50.31 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 1.46% to 1.3322, while EUR/GBP rose 1.13% to 0.9171.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.34% at 90.263.
