Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mining and Software & Computer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 1.46% to hit a new 3-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Melrose Industries PLC (LON:MRON), which rose 12.59% or 12.65 points to trade at 113.15 at the close. Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) added 6.63% or 68.0 points to end at 1093.5 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) was up 6.43% or 38.00 points to 628.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC (LON:SMT), which lost 6.35% or 61.50 points to trade at 907.50 in late trade. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) declined 6.02% or 152.00 points to end at 2372.00 and BHP Group PLC (LON:BHPB) shed 5.82% or 101.20 points to 1639.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1347 to 850 and 153 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.44% or 8.50 to $1936.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.17% or 0.07 to hit $41.44 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.59% or 0.26 to trade at $44.17 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.67% to 1.3262, while EUR/GBP rose 0.55% to 0.8925.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 92.847.
