Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Mining, Industrial Metals & Mining and Software & Computer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 1.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Intu Properties PLC (LON:INTUP), which rose 27.23% or 40.45 points to trade at 189.00 at the close. Hammerson PLC (LON:HMSO) added 2.83% or 12.10 points to end at 440.40 and Severn Trent PLC (LON:SVT) was up 1.83% or 32.50 points to 1812.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO), which lost 5.44% or 47.60 points to trade at 827.00 in late trade. Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) declined 4.25% or 74.00 points to end at 1669.20 and Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) shed 4.02% or 157.00 points to 3744.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1452 to 616 and 322 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.34% or 4.10 to $1205.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.16% or 0.12 to hit $74.45 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.09% or 0.08 to trade at $84.50 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.56% to 1.3094, while EUR/GBP fell 0.62% to 0.8787.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 95.41.
