Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Travel & Leisure, Automobiles & Parts and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 1.23%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were British American Tobacco PLC (LON:BATS), which rose 0.79% or 24.5 points to trade at 3138.0 at the close. Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) added 0.79% or 15.0 points to end at 1925.5 and GlaxoSmithKline PLC (LON:GSK) was up 0.65% or 10.60 points to 1647.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bank VTB PAO DRC (LON:VTBRq), which lost 6.73% or 0.080 points to trade at 1.108 in late trade. Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) declined 5.18% or 75.6 points to end at 1384.2 and Sberbank Of Russia (LON:SBNCyq) shed 4.64% or 0.62 points to 12.85.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1699 to 311 and 392 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.56% or 10.30 to $1832.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.71% or 0.61 to hit $84.94 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.84% or 0.74 to trade at $87.64 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.25% to 1.3561, while EUR/GBP rose 0.62% to 0.8366.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 95.605.
