Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Industrial Metals & Mining and Fixed Line Telecommunications sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 1.23%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW), which rose 2.54% or 3.75 points to trade at 151.55 at the close. RSA Insurance Group PLC (LON:RSA) added 2.18% or 7.40 points to end at 347.20 and Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RB) was up 2.03% or 130.0 points to 6534.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which lost 7.87% or 23.50 points to trade at 275.00 in late trade. Intertek Group PLC (LON:ITRK) declined 6.45% or 326.0 points to end at 4726.0 and Compass Group PLC (LON:CPG) shed 5.98% or 80.50 points to 1266.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1311 to 812 and 153 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.62% or 10.80 to $1734.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.64% or 0.27 to hit $16.77 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.22% or 0.26 to trade at $21.59 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.11% to 1.2329, while EUR/GBP rose 0.37% to 0.8750.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 100.523.
