Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Industrial Metals & Mining and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 1.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Next PLC (LON:NXT), which rose 1.97% or 146.0 points to trade at 7574.0 at the close. BT Group PLC (LON:BT) added 1.78% or 3.45 points to end at 197.00 and Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) was up 1.63% or 175.0 points to 10940.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which lost 8.04% or 111.6 points to trade at 1275.8 in late trade. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) declined 7.56% or 118.00 points to end at 1442.00 and Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) shed 3.88% or 54.00 points to 1337.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1343 to 599 and 410 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.41% or 7.30 to $1785.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.64% or 0.55 to hit $87.16 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.77% or 0.68 to trade at $88.85 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.05% to 1.3391, while EUR/GBP rose 0.07% to 0.8329.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 97.195.
