Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Gas, Water & Multiutilities and Electrical sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.92%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 1.95% or 12.00 points to trade at 626.00 at the close. Beazley PLC (LON:BEZG) added 1.29% or 8.50 points to end at 670.00 and Next PLC (LON:NXT) was up 1.11% or 102.00 points to 9,310.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which lost 12.26% or 50.30 points to trade at 360.10 in late trade. RS Group PLC (LON:RS1R) declined 4.51% or 34.00 points to end at 719.50 and National Grid PLC (LON:NG) shed 4.36% or 38.20 points to 838.40.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1286 to 542 and 680 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.74% or 17.50 to $2,339.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.68% or 0.54 to hit $79.29 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.63% or 0.53 to trade at $83.41 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.42% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.02% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.46% at 105.01.
