Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Travel & Leisure and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.74%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 4.92% or 63.00 points to trade at 1343.00 at the close. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) added 3.87% or 105.00 points to end at 2817.00 and Schroders PLC (LON:SDR) was up 2.16% or 60.0 points to 2840.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG), which lost 14.60% or 18.90 points to trade at 110.55 in late trade. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) declined 9.19% or 54.60 points to end at 539.60 and Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) shed 7.91% or 81.4 points to 947.6.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1266 to 891 and 183 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.87% or 17.00 to $1966.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.07% or 0.03 to hit $41.00 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.51% or 0.22 to trade at $43.08 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.27% to 1.2936, while EUR/GBP rose 0.47% to 0.9173.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 92.830.
