Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Household Goods & Home Construction and Construction & Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.72%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Mondi PLC (LON:MNDI), which rose 3.25% or 43.50 points to trade at 1,380.50 at the close. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) added 3.06% or 23.40 points to end at 787.00 and Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) was up 1.79% or 37.00 points to 2,100.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN), which lost 4.59% or 49.50 points to trade at 1,029.50 in late trade. British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND) declined 4.58% or 14.80 points to end at 308.20 and Abrdn PLC (LON:ABDN) shed 3.82% or 6.25 points to 157.35.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1213 to 456 and 467 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.40% or 7.75 to $1,953.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.22% or 0.20 to hit $90.22 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.14% or 0.13 to trade at $94.06 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.07% to 1.24, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.23% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.29% at 104.69.
