Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Beverage and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.70%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which rose 5.01% or 98.00 points to trade at 2052.00 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 4.46% or 34.80 points to end at 814.80 and J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY) was up 3.15% or 6.30 points to 206.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which lost 10.23% or 127.5 points to trade at 1119.0 in late trade. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) declined 4.60% or 12.50 points to end at 259.00 and Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) shed 4.46% or 14.90 points to 319.30.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1308 to 909 and 124 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.75% or 13.20 to $1766.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.18% or 0.47 to hit $40.30 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.21% or 0.51 to trade at $42.70 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.85% to 1.2462, while EUR/GBP fell 0.17% to 0.9035.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.59% at 97.002.
