Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, General Industrial and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.70% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were NMC Health PLC (LON:NMC), which rose 6.57% or 160.00 points to trade at 2595.00 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 3.26% or 17.80 points to end at 563.20 and Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) was up 3.12% or 62.00 points to 2050.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN), which lost 9.00% or 21.45 points to trade at 216.90 in late trade. DS Smith PLC (LON:SMDS) declined 7.15% or 27.10 points to end at 351.80 and Tui AG (LON:TUIT) shed 4.12% or 41.70 points to 969.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1125 to 955 and 226 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.22% or 3.25 to $1483.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.07% or 0.04 to hit $58.47 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.46% or 0.29 to trade at $63.29 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.45% to 1.3162, while EUR/GBP fell 0.19% to 0.8436.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 97.350.
